Scholarly Teaching Director and Cross Endowed Chair for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)

Finalists have been announced for the Scholarly Teaching Director and Cross Endowed Chair for SoTL position at Illinois State University. Open forums for the candidates will be April 8, 11, 13, and 18. The campus community is invited to attend the forums or connect by Zoom.

The Director of Scholarly Teaching and Cross Endowed Chair for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning will promote the teacher-scholar ideal, serve as an expert resource in teaching and learning in higher education, and contribute to a national dialogue about teaching, learning, and assessment. The Director will lead a new Scholarly Teaching unit, housed in the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology, will be responsible for leading professional development programming and services, and will support instructors' development of evidence-based teaching practices.

The Director will also serve as the Cross Endowed Chair for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and is expected to facilitate collaborative initiatives and form partnerships with faculty and academic and support units to advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

    Dr. Elliott is currently Director, of the Center for Inclusive Teaching & Learning and Associate Professor of Biology Education at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Dr. Elliott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in German, from Furman University and a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

  • Dr. Sarah Boesdorfer

    Dr. Boesdorfer is currently the Director of Chemistry Teacher Education and Associate Professor of Chemistry Education at Illinois State University. Dr. Boesdorfer received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction from University of Wisconsin at Madison and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Illinois State University.

  • Dr. Jennifer Friberg

    Dr. Jennifer Friberg is currently the Interim Director for the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology and the Cross Endowed Chair in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and Professor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Illinois State University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University. She has a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana University and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Illinois State University.
