Assistant Vice President for Student Success Search

The Provost’s Office is pleased to announce the finalists for the Assistant Vice President for Student Success at Illinois State University. Open forums for the candidates will be April 22, 28, and 29 in-person or via Zoom. The campus community is invited to attend the forums.

The Assistant Vice President for Student Success provides leadership for processes and units that support student success at Illinois State. This position will develop academic student success initiatives to increase retention and graduation rates with a specific focus on closing the equity gap in educational outcomes for underrepresented minorities and low-income students in higher education in alignment with the expectations of the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

The Assistant Vice President will also work across all divisions of Illinois State to develop culturally responsive strategies and unified student success programs to help Illinois State reach its retention and graduation goals. This individual will be responsible for envisioning and building the unit within Academic Affairs and forging solid partnerships with Student Affairs and Finance and Planning.

  • Dr. Karla Carney-Hall

    Dr. Carney-Hall is currently the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students at Illinois Wesleyan University. She received a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from Louisiana State University. She received a Master of Science in Higher Education from Florida State University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Student Affairs Administration & Research from the University of Iowa.

  • Dr. Amelia Noel-Elkins

    1 p.m., Thursday, April 28

    Dr. Noel-Elkins is currently the Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Success at Illinois State University. She received a Bachelor of Arts (atrium baccalaureus) in History from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges. She received a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in History, Philosophy, and Policy in Education-Education Policy Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington.
