Academic Plan

The Academic Plan is compiled annually by the Office of the Provost to document the status of academic programs at the University and to identify academic program initiatives for the subsequent five years. Compilation of an academic plan is provided for in the Illinois State University Constitution (Article IV, Section 4.D). Inclusion in the plan of academic program changes and program review results meets reporting requirements of the Governing Document of the Board of Trustees (Section C.1.III and Section C.1.V, respectively). The Academic Plan is reviewed by the Academic Senate each May and by the Board of Trustees each July. The current Academic Plan includes the following elements:

  • the strategic plan for the University,
  • an inventory of academic programs offered by the University,
  • an inventory of academic program changes approved during the prior fiscal year,
  • an inventory of academic programs recognized by specialized accreditation associations,
  • a description of current and planned academic initiatives,
  • objectives for each college and the Graduate School for the next fiscal year,
  • the multi-year strategic plan for each college and the Graduate School,
  • summaries of academic program reviews conducted during the prior academic year,
  • the program review schedule for the subsequent eight years.
