Candidate Information and Open Forums

We are pleased to announce the final candidates for the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs. Open forums for the candidates will be October 22, 29, and 30 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. 

The campus community is invited to attend the forums. Candidate information will be released approximately 24 hours before the candidate visit.

Dr. Patrick C. Hughes

Open Forum: Wednesday, October 22 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Circus Room

Patrick C. Hughes, Ph.D., is a Professor of Communication Studies at Texas Tech University. Over his career, he has served as Dean, Vice Provost, and Department Chair, leading major initiatives in student success, faculty development, and interdisciplinary program innovation.

His leadership has advanced enrollment growth and national recognition for academic excellence. A scholar with over $3.4 million in grants and numerous publications, Patrick’s work bridges communication, leadership, and higher education transformation.

He holds degrees in Communication from the University of Denver (Ph.D.), Illinois State University (M.S.), and Augustana College (B.A.) and has earned multiple awards for teaching and equity.

Erica Hoelscher headshot

Professor Erica Hoelscher

Open Forum: Wednesday, October 29 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Prairie Room

Erica Hoelscher is an artist and administrator who works with collaborators to creatively implement a shared vision through teamwork and communication. She is the Associate Dean for Faculty and Staff Affairs in the College of Health and a Professor of Theatre in the Department of Theatre, College of Arts and Sciences.

Erica’s work in the College of Health, established in 2000, includes culture-building, change management, and writing and implementing policies and procedures for a new community of scholars.

Erica served as University Ombuds, department chair, and as a member of many university committees. She received her MFA in stage design from Northwestern University.

Dr. Russ Morgan

Open Forum: Thursday, October 30 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Circus Room

Dr. Russ Morgan currently serves as Director of Academic Labor and Employee Relations for Illinois State University and holds the rank of professor in the Department of Psychology. He previously served as Senior Associate Provost and Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Western Illinois University (WIU). Morgan also served as Associate Dean for Curriculum and Student Affairs in WIU's College of Arts and Sciences and as Interim Chair of Foreign Languages and Literatures.

He completed a three-year postdoctoral appointment at Cornell University after finishing doctoral and master's degrees in experimental psychology at Kent State University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology at Miami University.
