Program Review

At Illinois State University, primary responsibility for the quality of academic programs resides with faculty; review of academic programs resides with the Academic Planning Committee, an external committee of the Academic Senate. Program Review is carried out in a manner compatible with institutional academic planning mechanisms and guidelines established by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). Academic program review is both a critical and constructive process with two essential elements:

  • documentation of learning outcomes, and
  • identification of actions for program improvement.

2011 Guidelines for Program Review Self-Study for:

The University Assessment Services (UAS) staff works exclusively in the area of student learning outcomes assessment. In addition to conducting institution-wide projects at multiple points of students’ academic and co-curricular experiences, the staff will be available as consultants and co-researchers on class, department, and unit assessment projects. We also function as a clearinghouse of assessment-related information and administer the Small Grants for Assessment program as funds are available.
